The exhibition research continues. It was a lovely day and I was able to have the window open in front of my desk with a good breeze coming through.
I need to make a slip based on one in the collection. The silk is too shattered to be usable so we're salvaging the mesh and making a new understructure to sew it on. It's from House of Worth, circa 1925. There are a few interesting things about it. Even though it's a straight skirt, it's open from about the hip down with a wrap on one side. Which would make it far easier to walk or dance the Charleston in. The other thing is that there are underarm dress shields but they are weighted on both sides so that they won't slip out while the dress is worn.
